Indonesia, Japan 10-year LNG Contract Price is $18/mmBTU

Japanese buyers have reached an agreement with Indonesia for the price of LNG to be supplied by that nation under a new 10-year contract.

The price is set above $18 per million BTUs, the highest in the world, linked to a crude oil price of $110 per barrel.

The contract will renew an existing contract that was set to expire in 2010-2011, under which LNG was priced from $13 to $18 per million BTU on the same crude oil price basis.

Japan sought to import from Indonesia at a higher price to avoid transport costs from other suppliers in places like Russia and Qatar.
