BC Hydro CEO Bob Elton to Become Special Adviser to Board

BC Hydro announced that after six years, president and chief executive officer Bob Elton is transitioning to a new role as special adviser to Hydro's board and executive chairman of Powertech Labs Inc., a technology consulting subsidiary.

The move will be effective Jan 1. A search is underway for a new chief executive officer.

Chair of BC Hydro, Dan Doyle, said in a statement that “During his term as chief executive officer, Bob has modeled leadership based on strong values and a commitment to building a safer workplace and a strong and diverse workforce that is ready to meet the needs of customers now and in the future.”

“During his tenure, the company made significant progress towards the provincial goal of achieving self-sufficiency through a combination of growing its world class Power Smart programs; improving the health of B.C.'s heritage electricity assets through substantial capital re-investment; and securing nearly 100 contracts for new clean and renewable power projects across B.C.” added Doyle.
