Participation in Energy Efficiency Program Pays Off for TORO Company

Participation in El Paso Electric’s Texas Load Management Program paid off for the local manufacturing plant of TORO Company last month when Toro Company representatives received a check for $52,800 from El Paso Electric.

Participants in EPE’s Texas Load Management Program agree to curtail their use of electricity when EPE makes a request during the hours of 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the period of June through September. When EPE made the request to cut back, the Toro Company’s manufacturing facility on Railroad Drive in northeast El Paso curtailed its usage by an average of 880 kW by shutting down several large molding machines.

“This program allows El Paso Electric to meet the demand for power during the hot summer months when demand for electricity is at its highest,” said Paul Royalty, Energy Efficiency and Utilization Manager at El Paso Electric.

“Companies like TORO that participate in the Texas Load Management Program free up the power that they would normally have used and allow EPE to use that power to supply our residential and smaller commercial customers,” added Royalty.

The TORO Company is also working with CLEARResult, Inc., an administrator of El Paso Electric’s Commercial Solutions Program, to reduce their electric bill by installing new energy efficient lighting, replacing inefficient heating and cooling with higher efficiency units, and replacing the current roof with roofing materials that will help conserve energy. These continuous improvements in energy efficiency will reduce TORO Company’s electric bill and provide a better work environment for their employees.
