Snohomish PUD and Sno-Isle Libraries Offer Watt Meters for Checkout Snohomish County Public Utility District and Sno-Isle Libraries will offer free electricity watt meters for checkout starting this spring. Throughout April, a pilot program at the Edmonds Library will offer 15 meters for checkout.
The devices help library patrons assess where they’re wasting energy. Customers simply plug appliances or electronics into the watt meter to determine actual energy use and, in turn, calculate energy costs.
“We’re always interested in sharing new ways for customers to save energy and money,” said PUD Corporate Communications Officer Julee Cunningham. “Through our partnership with Sno-Isle Libraries, we’re making it easier for consumers to measure how they’re using energy and identify where they may be wasting money in their homes. Meter checkouts also will include energy-saving tips and contact information for PUD conservation programs.” The set of meters will circulate to other libraries later in 2010. The PUD and Sno-Isle Libraries also will offer special energy-related programs at area libraries. |
