Kern River's Micheal Dunn Named as New PacifiCorp Energy President

MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company, the parent company of Rocky Mountain Power, Pacific Power, PacifiCorp Energy and Kern River Gas Transmission Company, announced the appointment of Micheal Dunn as president of PacifiCorp Energy, effective Feb. 1. Dunn comes to PacifiCorp Energy from Kern River Gas Transmission Company, based in Salt Lake City, where he has served as president since June 2007.

As president of PacifiCorp Energy, Dunn will have responsibility for PacifiCorp’s electric generation and energy trading functions, and coal mine operations. PacifiCorp owns more than 10,000 megawatts of generation from coal, hydroelectric, natural gas, and renewable wind and geothermal sources. The company is among the national leaders for utility ownership of wind energy.

Dunn earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 1988. Starting in 1988, he held several engineering positions for a natural gas pipeline company in the Midwest.

Dunn joined Kern River in 1990 as a supervisor/chief inspector for the initial construction of the Kern River pipeline system. During his time with the company, Dunn served in positions including district supervisor; senior engineer; project manager; project director for the Kern River 2003 Expansion Project; director of operations; director of information technology; and vice president of operations, information technology and engineering.

Dunn and his wife, Krista, live in Salt Lake City with their three children.
