Mark Moench, Rocky Mountain Power General Counsel, Receives Best Corporate Counsel Award Mark Moench, senior vice president and general counsel at PacifiCorp and Rocky Mountain Power, this week received the Best Corporate Counsel award presented by the Association of Corporate Counsel’s (ACC) Mountain West Chapter. The award is based on the voting by all corporate counsel in Utah and Wyoming.Moench has served in his capacity with Rocky Mountain Power since 2006 and also was appointed senior vice president and general counsel and director of PacifiCorp in 2007. In this capacity he is responsible for corporate legal matters and for the company’s Rocky Mountain Power business unit which delivers safe, reliable electric service to customers in Utah, Wyoming and Idaho. “We are pleased to have someone of Mark’s caliber and talent working with us at Rocky Mountain Power and his contributions are a tremendous asset to the corporation,” said Richard Walje, president. “This is a well-deserved recognition by his peers.” The award was presented to Moench at the association’s 2010 Award Gala in Salt Lake City on Jan. 12. During his career, Moench has served as senior vice president, law, MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company, vice president and general counsel of Kern River Gas Transmission Company and he served the Williams Companies in various senior legal positions. Prior to that, he was assistant attorney general with the State of Utah Attorney General’s Office, where he held positions including counsel to the Utah Board of Oil, Gas and Mining, counsel to the Division of Public Utilities, and counsel to the Utah State Board of Regents. He also currently serves on the Mountain States Legal Foundation Board of Directors, Utah Shakespearean Festival Board of Governors and The Trust for Public Lands Utah Advisory Council. Moench earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Utah and a law degree from California Western School of Law. He and his wife Martha live in Salt Lake City and have three children. |
