TransCanada Reveals Record $2.54 Million Gift to United Way TransCanada raised a record-breaking $2.54 million for its 2009 United Way campaign through the efforts of its employees, contractors and retirees in regions across North America, an increase of more than $70,000 from 2008.
“TransCanada, its employees, contractors and retirees invest in building better communities because it makes good sense. Today’s record donation demonstrates once again that by uniting as a company we can make a lasting difference in our community,” says Alex Pourbaix, TransCanada president, Energy and executive vice-president, Corporate Development.
More than two-thirds of employees, contractors and retirees participated in TransCanada’s 2009 campaign for United Way. TransCanada is among Western Canada’s largest contributors to United Way and since 2000 has donated over $17 million. The campaign total will be distributed to approximately 100 United Way organizations located across North America. “Through our partnership with TransCanada, we connect people and resources in effective, innovative ways resulting in the growth of vibrant, healthy and more self-sufficient communities where we work and live,” said United Way of Calgary and Area president and chief executive officer Ruth Ramsden-Wood. |
