Williams Gets FERC Approval for Gas Pipeline Extension Federal regulators have approved Williams Cos.’s plans for a natural-gas pipeline expansion project in the Rocky Mountain region.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has granted Williams subsidiary Northwest Pipeline GP a certificate to construct and operate a 15.5-mile pipeline, called the Sundance Trail Expansion, that will carry 150,000 dekatherms a day of gas from the Piceance Basin in Colorado to the Opal natural gas market hub in Wyoming.
The project, which Williams expects to cost up to $65 million, will also replace gas compression facilities in Utah. It is slated to begin operations in November. "The Sundance Trail Project will meet the demand from producers to provide transportation capacity to move gas from one of the fastest-growing gas production fields in the Rockies to markets in the western U.S.," Phil Wright, president of Williams' natural gas pipeline business, said in a press release. |
