Maura Brueger Hired as City Light’s Director of Government, Legislative Affairs
City Light hired Maura Brueger, currently a senior advisor at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), to be the utility’s director of government and legislative affairs, Superintendent Jorge Carrasco announced.

“As Congress continues to debate a new national energy policy, it will be critical for Seattle City Light to be well-represented in Washington, D.C.,” Carrasco said. Decisions will be made on climate change and carbon emissions that could have a significant impact on our hydro resources, as well as costs to our ratepayers,” he adds. “I am pleased to have someone with Maura’s skill and experience representing our interests in D.C. and Olympia.”

Brueger has more than 25 years of government relations experience. Before joining HUD in Washington, D.C., as the senior advisor to Deputy Secretary Ron Sims, she worked with several King County departments and served as Sims’ director of federal relations when he served as King County executive.

Brueger earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Michigan. Her first day at City Light was June 16.
