New Renewable Energy System to Help Power the Cerritos Corporate Yard High capacity solar panels will soon be constructed and installed on top of the water reservoir at the Cerritos Corporate Yard.
The facility will generate approximately 148,000 kilowatts per year, which is enough to power approximately 50 percent of the electricity needs of the Cerritos Corporate Yard’s main building.
The photovoltaic system will provide the City with an additional source of renewable energy and assist the City’s Electric Utility in meeting its renewable energy requirements.
The project was funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, which sponsored the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program. The Cerritos City Council awarded a $499,409 contract to Martifer Solar for the project. Construction of the system will start in July and is expected to be completed in September. |
