Southwest Gas Receives 2010 ENERGY STAR Leadership in Housing Award from EPA

Southwest Gas has received a 2010 ENERGY STAR Leadership in Housing Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for the company's ENERGY STAR HOME program. The award recognizes the company's work in promoting energy-efficient new construction and helping to protect the environment through its partnership with ENERGY STAR.

"We're honored to receive this ENERGY STAR award," said Southwest's Chief Executive Officer Jeff Shaw. "Through our participation in ENERGY STAR programs, we work with home builders to bring today's home buyer a high performing, energy-efficient home. Since energy issues are at the top of our nation's agenda, it's important we all do our part to promote energy efficiency. We're proud to be part of programs that bring products and services to our customers that will help them use energy wisely. More than 20,000 ENERGY STAR certified homes have participated in Southwest's new construction program throughout the years."

ENERGY STAR homes provide features and amenities that include tighter construction, improved insulation, tightly sealed ducts and advanced-design windows. They also include high-efficiency heating, water heating and cooling systems, as well as other natural gas appliances. To date, more than one million ENERGY STAR qualified homes have been built nationwide.

Southwest Gas also has a Smarter Greener Better campaign that focuses on bringing homeowners the latest tips on ways to save money and use energy wisely. For more information about other energy efficiency programs, just visit us at www.swgas.com/efficiency .
