Clark Public Utilities Receives National Recognition for Reliable Operations
Clark Public Utilities is one of 94 of the nation's more than 2,000 public power utilities to earn Reliable Public Power Provider recognition from the American Public Power Association. The RP3® recognition goes to utilities that provide consumers with the highest degree of reliable and safe electric service.
Clark's recognition came at the platinum level, the first such designation granted to a utility in Washington State.
"About 350 Clark Public Utilities employees work hard to be sure that when our customers flip the switch, the electricity comes on and stays on," said Nancy Barnes, president of the utility's board of commissioners. "These employees were rewarded with the RP3 designation, which is much-appreciated recognition of this hard work."
Paul Allen, vice president of engineering at Nashville Electric Service and chair of APPA's RP3 review panel, presented the recognition during the association's recent Engineering and Operations Technical Conference in Omaha, Nebraska.
"The RP3 designation represents a high level of service to communities all over the country," said Allen. "These 94 utilities stand out as models of safe and reliable utility operations."
The RP3 recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate proficiency in four key areas: reliability, safety, workforce development, and system improvement.
This is the fifth year that RP3 recognition has been offered. APPA is the national organization representing more than 2,000 not-for-profit community- and state- owned electric utilities. It is located in Washington, D.C.
