Riverside Public Utilities Radio Program Wins Award Riverside Public Utilities’ weekly radio program “Green Power Report” recently won gold in a national marketing and communications award competition.
RPU won the Hermes Creative Gold Award, given annually by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals for outstanding creative designs and concepts in traditional and emerging media. Judges are industry professionals who look for a high standard of excellence in their field. The gold award is presented to those entries judged to exceed those standards. Only about 18 percent of entries reach this level.
“Green Power Report,” broadcast every Monday at 8:30 p.m. on KTIE 590 AM, features interviews about new trends in conservation and renewable energy for the Inland Empire. Prominent guests on the show during the last three years include: Riverside Mayor Ron Loveridge; Bridgett Luther, director of the California Department of Conservation; and actor/environmental activist Ed Begley Jr.
“Our objective is to let Riverside residents know what the leaders of their community and the utility are doing to make their city clean and green and to inform and educate our listening audience,” said producer Lynn Scott.
The city’s Utilities Services, Land Use and Energy Development Committee chair, Ward 3 Councilmember Rusty Bailey, credits the show with introducing new green topics to Inland audiences.
“The ‘Green Power Report’ is bringing green and sustainable community issues to the forefront,” Bailey said. “It’s presenting exciting trends in conservation and renewable energy to our listeners in a personal way. Education is the key to changing how people make informed choices today, and the response has been phenomenal.” Shows have highlighted such topics as the city’s grease-to-gas energy production, Inland recycling efforts and ocean wave energy research. |
