Spectra Energy Selects 2010 Scholarship Recipients

Spectra Energy announced ten children of company employees have been selected to receive up to $5,000 per year in scholarship funds toward undergraduate study at an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada.  Two additional students were recognized for their achievements and will each receive a one-time $2,500 scholarship.

“Our 2010 scholarship recipients are outstanding students with strong academics, leadership ability, and community involvement. We are proud to invest in the futures of these exceptional young people,” said Greg Ebel, president and chief executive officer, Spectra Energy Corp. “At Spectra Energy, we strive to be the employer of choice and believe this scholarship program demonstrates our commitment to our most valuable assets, our employees.”

As part of the Spectra Energy Scholars program, scholarship recipients are chosen annually by an independent committee of judges and must be graduating high school/secondary school seniors. The committee reviews and selects applicants based on their performance in academics, leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors and awards, work experience and financial need. The scholarships will provide the students up to $20,000 during their four years of undergraduate study.
