IDACORP Makes Extra Project Share Donation Representatives from Idaho Power, The Salvation Army and the Project Share Board of Directors recently gathered at The Salvation Army headquarters in Boise for a very special occasion. Idaho Power Vice President of Customer Service & Regional Operations Warren Kline presented an additional $75,000 IDACORP shareowner contribution to Project Share.
Capt. John Stennett and Raunie Aasland of The Salvation Army, and Project Share board chair Dale Reynolds were on hand for the presentation.
Project Share is a valuable community service providing voluntary contributions from customers and shareowners to individuals and families in Idaho and Oregon communities who need help paying their electric, natural gas, propane, oil or firewood bills.
Idaho Power started Project Share in 1982 and the company and its customers have actively supported Idaho and Oregon communities through the program for almost three decades. The program is administered by The Salvation Army and every penny of IDACORP’s donation will be sent to the agency. IDACORP recently elected to contribute the additional $75,000 to Project Share, on top of $25,000 donated in December because of the increased need due to the poor economy.
“We are sensitive to the impacts this extended economic downturn is having across our communities, and look for ways to support folks facing challenges, including through charitable giving by our IDACORP Foundation,” said Kline. “The continuing depressed economy and increased jobless rate, coupled with higher energy bills due in part to our December cold snap, resulted in more—and different—customers struggling to keep up with payments. We are committed to helping people through Project Share and are happy to make this additional shareowner contribution.” “This money will help Project Share provide assistance to even more people facing tough times,” said Stennett. “Company shareowners have made these kinds of extra contributions twice before in the past 10 years, and each time it made a huge difference for folks needing a hand.” |
