The study surveyed customers from more than 90 utilities serving 11.7 million customers. Overall satisfaction scores are based on six factors: Power Quality and Reliability, Customer Service, Corporate Citizenship, Billing and Payment, Price, and Communications.
According to the study, SMUD ranked highest in both Communications and Customer Service and second in Billing and Payment and Corporate Citizenship. When compared with five other utilities in the Western region, SMUD earned the top position among utilities serving between 29,000 and 84,999 business customers.
“We are honored to be recognized by our commercial customers for exceptional service,” said SMUD Board President Genevieve Shiroma. “We are committed to continuing to look for ways to improve our level of service to all of our customers.” SMUD leads the segment in five key performance areas: Communications, Customer Service, Corporate Citizenship, Billing and Payment, and Price, and ties for first in Power Quality and Reliability according to J.D.
