UniSource Energy Teams With Employees to Contribute $22,000 to Haiti Relief UniSource Energy Corporation, parent company of Tucson Electric Power (TEP) and UniSource Energy Services (UES), will match more than $11,000 donated by employees to relief efforts for earthquake victims in Haiti.
More than 80 employees of TEP and UES donated approximately $11,400 to 22 organizations or funds supporting Haitian relief efforts through the end of January.
Individual donations ranged from $10 to $3,000, and each donation will be matched dollar for dollar with corporate funds. UniSource Energy’s largest matching check will go to the American Red Cross, which received more than $6,900 in employee contributions.
"Our employees have demonstrated incredible compassion for the people of Haiti," said Paul Bonavia, UniSource Energy’s Chairman, President and CEO. "We’re happy to support their generosity in hopes of providing aid and comfort to people who are experiencing such desperate need." TEP employees also have donated emergency relief supplies to World Care, a Tucson-based nonprofit organization gathering supplies for earthquake victims. Donations included bandages, pain relievers, diapers, and dried food like beans and rice. The drive was coordinated by a TEP employee who has a close friend living in Haiti. |
