Greg Said Promoted to Lead Regulatory Affairs at Idaho Power Idaho Power President and CEO LaMont Keen announced the promotion of longtime leadership team member Greg Said to general manager of Regulatory Affairs. He succeeds Vice President of Regulatory Affairs Ric Gale, who will transition by May to a new role with the company focusing on key policy issues for Idaho Power and the utility industry as a whole.
In his new position, Said is responsible for the management of economic regulatory activities in both the Idaho and Oregon retail jurisdictions and with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The company anticipates Said’s role will evolve throughout 2010, culminating in full regulatory strategy and policy responsibilities.
“Greg has been a longtime contributor to our company’s regulatory successes and is well prepared for the challenges of additional leadership,” said Keen. “Idaho Power is fortunate to have his business expertise available to ensure sound regulatory strategy benefiting the company’s owners and customers. Through diligent succession planning the company is optimally positioned to step forward into the future of rate design and pricing.”
Said received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with honors from Boise State University in 1975. He began his career at Idaho Power in 1980 as an analyst in the company’s Resource Planning department. In 1989 Said accepted an analyst position in the company’s Rate department, where in 1992 he was selected to design a pivotal Power Cost Adjustment (PCA) that was instrumental in reducing earnings volatility related in large part to the impacts of snowpack on hydroelectric generation.
Said was promoted to director of revenue requirement in 1996. In that position he led a number of company efforts including the preparation of Integrated Resource Plans, requests for proposals to construct new generation facilities and the creation of a PCA mechanism in Oregon. Most recently, Said worked as director of state regulation. In that role he was responsible for the preparation oversight of all regulatory filings in state jurisdictions. He led or played a critical role in a number of recent, collaborative settlement negotiations that led to significant and innovative changes in Idaho PCA methodology and both Idaho and Oregon general rate structure. |
