8:00 AM – 9:15 AM
Instrument Transformer Basics
This is a class on the basics of 600V Instrument Transformers. Topics discussed will be rating factor, selection, burden, polarity.

9:30 AM – 11:30 AM
Introduction to Demand Metering; TOU; Load Profiling
This lecture explains demand and why an electric utility is concerned with it. Demand metering methods, demand meter types, schedules, Time of Use and Load Profile metering

11:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Lunch

12:30 PM – 2:30 PM
Demonstration & Examination of Meters Lab
Varying loads will be applied to single phase meters to allow students to see how these associated loads affect the meter. Students will have a hands on opportunity to change the loads on energized electromechanical meters and see how these loads change the speed of the disc. The math that was learned on day one will be used to determine the power factor, watt load, VA, and phase angle. Students will be taking measurements with commonly used equipment to compare measured watt load to applied load.

2:45 PM – 4:30 PM
Familiarization with Phantom Load Boxes, Test Jacks + Standards
This lecture introduces and demonstrates meter testing with Phantom load, test jacks and watt-hour standards equipment.
