Gas Utility + Contractor (May 24-25)

WEI and the Distribution Contractors Association (DCA) have teamed together to provide a workshop for natural gas utilities and their contractors. Discussions include: operator qualification, portability and training; shared mechanisms to communicate procedural changes; effective approaches to collaborating on safety, quality and training; joint practices on monitoring quality and establishing a fair and useful quality assurance program; practices to reduce excavation damages due to first and second parties.

Join this roundtable session to discuss challenges and opportunities facing natural gas utilities and contractors, specifically in relation to Operator Qualification (OQ) + portability. We will set the stage by broadly discussing OQ + portability conversations occurring across the nation before narrowing in on the western region. Come prepared to share your interests and goals for the workshop.

Facilitator: Gabe Cabatic, Supervisor of Quality and Qualifications, NW Natural
Join us as Richard Stump of Midwest ENERGY Association (MEA) shares his view on an OQ path to portability. Then, learn as Jose Costa of Northeast Gas Association (NGA) and Vanessa O’Neil of Gas Technology Institute (GTI) lay the blueprint of their OQ initiative. We will hear about planning pinch-points, implementation triumphs and tips to consider as the west turns its attention toward portability.
