  • Due to contractual obligations, cancellations received 15 business days prior to the program will receive a full refund. Cancellations received 6 to 14 business days prior to the event will receive a refund, less a $100 administrative fee. No shows and last minute cancellations, 5 business days prior to the event or less, will be responsible for the full registration fee. Substitutions from your organization for the same event are always welcome.

  • Western Energy Institute programs and events are open to energy companies (including gas production and electric generation, gas and electric transmission and gas and electric distribution utilities). Select programs and events are open to energy industry product and service suppliers. Programs and events are closed to all media representatives and to the general public.

Omar Rivera is Director, Gas System Integrity Staff & Programs for Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) and San Diego Gas and Electric Company (SDG&E), Sempra Energy’s regulated California Utilities.

In his role, Omar is responsible for providing strategic direction and management of system integrity policies and programs to ensure compliance with safety regulations, codes and industry best practices.

Omar joined Sempra Energy Utilities in 2000 and has held a variety of management positions in gas engineering; gas transmission and system operations; pipeline integrity; and pipeline safety enhancement project (PSEP).

Omar has been responsible for various areas related to managing an operations transmission district, planning, installation, replacement of gas infrastructure, as well as providing leadership in implementing gas standards, business enhancements and compliance assurance.

Omar holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
