Andrea Smith brings more than 20 years of experience in marketing, public relations and government affairs to her role as San Diego Gas & Electric’s Director of Marketing and Communications. She relocated to California to join SDG&E in January 2020 after nearly two decades at NV Energy, the energy company serving 90 percent of the state of Nevada.
Prior to joining NV Energy, she served as senior public information officer for the city of Las Vegas, which followed her position as deputy chief of staff for Nevada’s lieutenant governor. Smith also worked for two advertising and public relations firms where she led accounts for gaming, utility, political campaign, government and nonprofit clients.
Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in communications with a minor in marketing from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. During her time in Nevada, she also served on the boards of directors for several community organizations, including Discovery Children’s Museum; the UNLV Football Foundation; Grant a Gift Autism Foundation; Voices in Voting; Child Focus; the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce Leadership Council and Business Council; the Census 2000 Committee and many others.
Smith is a 2004 graduate of the Las Vegas Metro Chamber’s Leadership Las Vegas program, holds a certificate in utility management from Willamette University, and is a member of the UNLV Alumni Association.
