Chris Hirsch

I have been employed by San Diego Gas & Electric since 2009. I started my career as an Electrical Engineer in a rotational program where I gained experienced in distribution, transmission, and field operations. After the 18 month rotational program, I worked as an engineer in our Transmission Planning group for about 2 years where I performed the annual Transmission Grid Plan and proposed projects through the CAISO process. Additionally, I worked with generation developers and the CAISO to study new generation that was coming online in the region and determine their impacts.

In January of 2013, I moved to the Electric Distribution Operations group as a Team Lead where I worked as a Technical Support Team member for our control center. In this role I acted as the main point of contact for our distribution operations department and assisted in outage restoration efforts and longer term efforts to improve reliability. In February of 2015, I was put on EDO’s Advanced Distribution Management Project as the Business Project Manager. In this role, I led the effort to role out several major upgrades to our Outage Management & Distribution Management software. In June of 2017, I was promoted to Manager of Electric Distribution Operations Control Center. In this role, I lead our distribution operations department where we manage all outage management processes and am a stakeholder in several key projects including a replacement of our SCADA Head-End System.
