Daniel Barnes

Dan Barnes has over 30 years’ experience in the utility business having spent 5 years with Southern California Gas Company and the last 25 years with the LADWP. Dan started his career with LADWP in 1990 as a Ground man. In 1992 he entered into LADWP’s Overhead and Underground Apprenticeship Program graduating in 1993 as a Journeyman Lineman.

Dan spent the next 10 years working as a Journeyman Lineman/Splicer and Line Patrol Mechanic (Trouble Shooter), constructing and maintaining LADWP’s Distribution and Transmission system.

In 2003, Dan promoted to Line Forman where he spent the next 5 years supervising field crews in the maintenance and construction of LADWP’s Power system. In 2008, Dan promoted to Transmission and Distribution District Supervisor where he spent 6 years managing LADWP’s Owens Valley District located 200 miles north of Los Angeles. This district consisted of 7500 customers but had over 4900 square miles in service territory. In September 2014, Dan promoted to Electric Service Manager where he is currently responsible for 3 distribution districts for LADWP’s Distribution Construction and Maintenance Section. Dan enjoys spending time with his wife of 31 years and his 3 children and their families.
