David Millar

David is Director of Resources Planning Consulting at Ascend Analytics. He and his team advise utilities across the US using Ascend’s advanced risk-based analytic tools for resource planning and decision analysis. Prior to joining Ascend, David was a Principal of Energy Modeling and Analysis in electricity supply and a load forecasting analyst at Pacific Gas and Electric. He has also worked in energy consulting and research at DNV GL and Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. Originally from the Bay Area, David received bachelors degrees in Earth Sciences and Politics from the University of California, Santa Cruz and a Master of Environmental Management from Duke University. When he’s not working on the energy transition, he likes to spent time with his wife and 10-month old identical twin sons, as well as sneak away to cycle and ski in the Rocky Mountains.
