Dr. Larry Olson

Larry Olson is an associate professor and the program chair for environmental and resource management in the Polytechnic School in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University. His research focuses on the environmental and health aspects of hazardous chemicals, including nanoscale materials. He is also involved in innovative methods of water treatment and water resources management.
• Olson holds a doctorate in chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Baylor University. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Illinois and has been a member of the Arizona State University faculty since 1989. Olson was a visiting professor at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in Brussels, Belgium; the University of Houston; Rice University and Baylor University.
• His awards and honors include the President’s Medal (ASU) for Social Embeddedness; Outstanding Professor (National Association of Industrial Technology), and Teacher of the Year (ASU Polytechnic).
