James Howe

Jim Howe is Senior Vice President, Gas Engineering and Asset Management for CHA Consulting, Inc., an international, full service engineering firm. He is responsible for all of CHA’s work in the natural gas market segment.

Prior to joining CHA Consulting, Jim worked for Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation and, after Niagara Mohawk’s acquisition, National Grid for 34 years. Over the course of his career there he held a variety of positions in Hydro Engineering, Regional Operations, and Electric Operations, and was General Manager, Gas – Eastern Division, Regional Manager – Capital Region, Vice President Supply Chain, Vice President and Special Assistant to the CEO, and Vice President Operations Performance Improvement before being assigned as gas operations lead for National Grid’s integration effort with KeySpan. Prior to the completion of the KeySpan transaction, he was Acting Chief Operating Officer for US Gas Distribution. In his last position at National Grid, he was Senior Vice President for US Gas Distribution in New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire. In this role he was responsible for standards, policies and procedures, operations regulatory compliance, investment planning for capital and O&M programs, resource management, system reliability and integrity engineering, project engineering and design, and gas control centers for one of the largest utility gas transmission and distribution systems in the US.

Jim holds a BS in Civil Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
