Joy Mastache

Joy Mastache joined SMUD in 2016 as a senior attorney. She provides legal and technical expertise and direction on a variety of regulatory and operational matters in the utility’s legal office. She advises management and staff regarding energy, gas and facility related matters. Her focus is on understanding the complex and changing statutes and regulations that govern the energy industry to address the unique legal needs that arise in connection with the generation, procurement, transmission, distribution and consumption of energy.

Joy earned her Juris Doctor at Hastings College of Law. She received her bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication and English at Drake University, Des Moines.
