Lyla Garzouzi was appointed Hydro One’s Chief Safety Officer in November 2020. In this newly created executive role, she is charged with transforming Hydro One’s safety culture in addition to overseeing the health and environment portfolio. With more than 15 years of experience in the electricity sector, Ms. Garzouzi is a highly regarded leader with a proven track record in successfully executing large-scale transformations while building strong relationships with people.
Prior to this role, as Vice-President of Distribution, Ms. Garzouzi led the largest workforce at Hydro One and successfully carried out a $1 billion work program while having a significant impact on operational excellence. She has been instrumental in leading Hydro One’s grid modernization journey to improve Ontario’s power system through smart design and new technology.
Ms. Garzouzi is the proud executive sponsor of Pride One, where she plays a role in supporting the organization’s efforts to make the workplace more inclusive and diverse. Lyla serves on numerous boards including the Ontario Energy Network and the Canadian Electricity Association Distribution Council. She is a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, and holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ottawa. Ms. Garzouzi was named one of Canada’s Top 40 under 40 business leaders.
