Mario Cantu

Mario Cantu, Community Engagement Coordinator for Chelan County PUD. Originally from Mexico, born in Mexico City and raised in the city of San Luis Potosi. Adapting to a new language and culture was no easy task, but I like to think that after living in USA for nearly 18 years, I have learned to embrace this wonderful culture without having to depart from my so beloved Mexican heritage. I have worked in community engagement initiatives over the last nine years, participating in hundreds of community events from food banks, community forums, back to school events, multicultural events, among others. I have also participated in community equity projects to promote cultural competency, language access, voting rights and healthcare access. Helping others and making a difference in my community is my passion. I’m honored to have received recognition for a number of awards including the Molina Healthcare Community Champions Award in 2014, the City of Wenatchee Social Justice award in 2016, Participation in the Wenatchee Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class in 2017, and the 30 under 35 Community Leader award in 2019. I am also enrolled at Western Governors University to obtain a Business Management degree. But without a doubt my greatest, most amazing accomplishment is my FAMILY, my wife and my three beautiful little girls.
