Melanie Bayley

Melanie Bayley is the President of ATCO’s Electricity division and brings extensive experience in the natural gas and electricity utility industries in Alberta and Canada’s north. She’s accountable for the strategic and operational direction of the electricity transmission and distribution business in Alberta, the Yukon, and Northwest Territories.

Ms. Bayley led ATCO’s response to Canada’s worst natural disaster, the 2016 Fort McMurray wildfires, and provided pandemic-response leadership to maintain essential electricity services for customers while ensuring public and employee health and safety. She serves on various boards and industry committees (Western Energy Institute, Electricity Canada, Drake Landing Solar Community) and was a keynote speaker at Electricity Canada’s 2021 Regulatory Forum, and a featured panelist at both the Edison Electric Institute’s 2021 Global Electrification Forum and the 2022 Global Energy Show.

Ms. Bayley joined ATCO in 2000 and has held increasingly complex positions including Director, Regulatory & Pricing (2010), VP – Regulatory (2014), VP – Innovation & Engineering (2015), Global Chief Regulatory Officer for utilities (2016), and Senior VP & General Manager – Electricity (2019). She holds Civil Engineering degree from the University of Alberta and has completed the Richard Ivey School of Business’ Executive program at Western University.
