Meri Issel

Meri Issel has been employed with Pacific Gas and Electric company for 33 years. She hired on as an entry level “Groundman” and for nearly 10 years she worked on general construction line crews performing all manner of overhead transmission and distribution construction and maintenance. An injury caused her move out of the field and she’s been fortunate to have a diverse and rewarding career in a variety of roles including Safety Rep, Superintendent, Human Resources advisor, labor negotiator, manager and director in professional development and, for the last 2.5 years as director of safety culture.
Meri is a 4th generation native San Franciscan whose grandfather was the president of IBEW Local 6. She now lives in Berkeley and is married with one son who’s a senior at USF. She spends free time biking, barbequing, working on the house and doing anything with family.
