Michael Champ

Michael Champ is a native of Sacramento, and earned his undergraduate degree in Linguistics from the University of California at Davis. After graduation in 2006, he spent a year coordinating relief work in New Orleans after hurricane Katrina, followed by a year-long deployment to Iraq as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps. He spent four years at CalPERS, a $240 billion pension fund, working as an analyst, then as a manager, in developing strategic and business plans, establishing the Office of Enterprise Risk Management, and developing performance measures. He currently works at SMUD as a manager responsible for the development and reporting of enterprise metrics, the operations of a data governance program, and the oversight of a $200 million project portfolio.
