Patrick Dinkel

Pat Dinkel is vice president of strategy and risk for Arizona Public Service Company (APS). Based in Phoenix, APS is Arizona’s largest electric company and serves nearly 1.3 million customers across the state.

Dinkel is responsible for corporate strategy, enterprise risk, insurance, industrial safety, health services, and corporate physical and cyber security.

Since joining APS in 1986, Dinkel has held a number of leadership roles across the company. He most recently was vice president, environmental and chief sustainability officer, which included setting environmental policy and strategy and integrating the company’s sustainability strategies into core business operations, in addition to many of the business functions he currently manages. Prior to that, Dinkel served as vice president of transmission and distribution operations and maintenance.

He spent the first 15 years of his career at APS in corporate finance. Dinkel then led the development of long-term power procurement and renewable energy management for the company. In that capacity, he developed a progressive distributed renewable program and successfully contracted for more than 2,000 megawatts of generation capacity.

Dinkel earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Marymount College and an MBA degree from Northern Arizona University.
