Sara Head

Sara J. Head, QEP, is a Principal Scientist in Yorke Engineering’s Newbury Park, CA office.  She has been an environmental consultant for 40 years.  Sara’s focus for the past 18 years has been on permitting power generation throughout the southwest, including both fossil-fueled (coal as well as natural gas) and renewable (solar, wind, geothermal and biomass) power plants. She has obtained Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) permits for several power plants, including obtaining the first PSD permit issued by EPA that included Greenhouse Gas BACT requirements. She has also assisted with addressing the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and/or National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) for power projects, including up to 1,000 MW of solar in the California desert. She has conducted permitting feasibility studies, and has recently become involved with waste to energy projects. 
Sara is a Past President of the Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA). She has served on the Association’s Board of Directors, and is currently on the Board of A&WMA’s West Coast Section and is a member of A&WMA’s Honors and Awards Committee.  Sara is the Chair of A&WMA’s Technical Council, where she leads the group that is putting together the technical program for A&WMA’s 110th Annual Conference & Exhibition in Pittsburgh, PA to be held on June 5-8, 2017.
