Scott Sammons

Scott has managed the damage prevention program at Puget Sound Energy since 2010. He is responsible for processing damage data and reporting damages to the state, liaison with locators, outreach to third-party contractors, and internal communication and strategic planning across PSE departments that have a damage prevention role. He is a member of the King County Utility Coordinating Council and is president of the Washington Utility Coordinating Council. These groups work to foster communication within the utility and digging communities.

Scott represents natural gas distribution utilities on the Washington State Dig Law Safety Committee, which was established when Washington’s dig law was strengthened in 2013. It is a peer-based review board that hears complaints of violations of the dig law, facilitates dialog between contending parties, and recommends fines and/or training as needed. The committee also proposes changes to the dig law and recommends best practices.
