Steven Harkin has been with Pacific Power since 1980 beginning his career in Coal Handling Operations at the Dave Johnston Coal Fired Generation Facility in Glenrock Wyoming. Following his time in the coal yard he moved into plant operations and then ultimately into a full time safety position in 1990 spending 5 years as the Safety & Security Administrator at the Jim Bridger Generation facility outside of Rock Springs Wyoming. He continued his safety involvement transitioning to the corporate side of the company in Portland Oregon in 1995 and ultimately into the Transmission and Distribution side of the business. He has been involved in the record keeping and reporting aspect of safety, accident reporting and investigation, managed Field Safety Administrators, and currently is the Senior Safety Staff Representative reporting to the Director of Environmental, Health & Safety. He is involved with the regulatory community in the three states that Pacific Power does business in and is currently a member of the Washington Department of Occupational Safety & Health sponsored Electric Utility Safety Advisory Committee; the Oregon Public Utility Commission sponsored Oregon Utility Safety Committee. He is a member and Delegate at Large for the Columbia Willamette Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers; a National Safety Council member and a Certified Utility Safety Administrator.
Currently he is a member of the 2015 Oregon Governors Occupational Safety and Health planning committee and the lead for the utilities track at that upcoming conference.
