Vern Porter

Vern Porter announced his retirement from Idaho Power in October 2019, effective December 31, 2019. Porter assumed the role of Vice President of Transmission & Distribution Engineering and Construction and Chief Safety Officer for Idaho Power on March 1, 2017. Prior to this appointment, he worked as Vice President of Customer Operations since April 2015.

Porter joined Idaho Power in 1989 after starting his career in 1986 with Pacific Gas and Electric Company. In October 2009, Porter was named Vice President of Delivery Engineering and Construction. Porter has held a variety of other positions within the company, including various engineering roles, System Planner, Energy Trader, Senior Manager of Grid Operations and Customer Service, and General Manager of Power Production.

Porter is a graduate of Brigham Young University, earning his Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering in 1985 and Master of Science in 1986. He also received his Executive Master of Business Administration from Boise State University in 2013.

Porter serves on the Idaho Technology Council Board of Trustees and on the Board of Directors for the Boy Scouts of America Ore-Ida Council.
