Willie Thomas is an experienced engineer and manager who has been with San Diego Gas & Electric since 2004, holding numerous positions with increasing responsibility. He first went through an 18-month rotational engineering program, spending five years in distribution engineering as a switch engineer and then served as team lead of construction standards. He spent five years in transmission engineering as a team lead and manager and, for the last two years, as the program manager of the Fire Risk Mitigation (FiRM) Program. He has overseen the permitting, design, engineering, and construction of numerous Transmission and Distribution pole replacement projects throughout SDG&E Service territory since 2011. Willie earned a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 2004, and has held a PE in California since 2006.
