  • Member: $449 USD

    Registration price increases $100 after April 24, 2023. Registration includes access to all agenda items, meals, and digital program materials. Guest tickets are available for $100 and allow for a personal guest (a spouse or partner who does not work in the energy industry) to accompany a registered attendee at the event. Guest registration includes all meals and receptions.

  • General Cancellation Policy
  • Due to contractual obligations, cancellations received 15 business days prior to the program will receive a full refund. Cancellations received 6 to 14 business days prior to the event will receive a refund, less a $100 administrative fee. No shows and last minute cancellations, 5 business days prior to the event or less, will be responsible for the full registration fee. Substitutions from your organization for the same event are always welcome.
  • Participation Policy
  • Western Energy Institute programs and events are open to energy companies (including gas production and electric generation, gas and electric transmission and gas and electric distribution utilities). Select programs and events are open to energy industry product and service suppliers. Programs and events are closed to all media representatives and to the general public. Recording is not permitted for any portion of the event.

During this session each of the four functional areas (Customer Connections, Corporate Services, Electric Operations, and Gas Operations) meet separately to discuss strategic issues. Come prepared to answer and discuss the question prompts below. Together, the top issues identified by this roundtable will springboard the EPC into the second day.

  • What are the top 3 strategic issues and challenges that you and your team are facing? 
  • What have been your utility’s biggest successes this year that would be relevant to share with other utilities?
  • What other issues or opportunities will affect the industry and your utility in the future?

With over three decades of experience in the utility industry, I am a Regional VP of Sales at Opower, part of Oracle Energy and Water, where I lead a team of sales directors who help utilities use AI, disaggregation, and behavioral science to achieve their decarbonization and sustainability goals.

As a registered civil engineer and a holder of a master’s degree in civil engineering, I have a strong technical background and analytical skills that enable me to communicate effectively and persuasively with diverse audiences, from large, complex, and political customers, to regulators, and elected officials. I have a proven track record of delivering innovative and customized solutions that meet their needs and expectations, while enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty.

I am passionate about helping utilities and their customers adopt clean energy programs and solutions, reduce peak load, shift demand, and deliver water and energy efficiency products. I have also successfully restructured and coached several organizations and teams, improving their performance, efficiency, and culture. I am always looking for new opportunities and challenges to leverage my expertise and leadership skills to help utilities in the rapidly evolving energy and water sector.

Dan holds both a Bachelor and Master of Science degree from California State University, Long Beach, and is a registered Professional Civil Engineer. He has been involved in the utility industry for over 31 years, including 26 years in the electric and water industry. He has worked for utilities such as Orange County Sanitation District, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Southern California Edison, and Burbank Water and Power. Dan’s previous experience involved managing customer care operations, providing strategic customer solutions, managing regulatory issues, and providing safety and environmental engineering expertise.
