Andrew Krawczel

Andrew Krawczel joined SDG&E in October 2015 and has been overseeing the Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) program since January 2016 when it transitioned from research and development to operations. In this role, Andrew is responsible for the daily operations of the UAS program and continuing to develop new work methods for its application in the utility industry. Prior to SDG&E, Andrew served as a pilot in the United States Marine Corps flying CH-46 Sea Knights and V-22 Ospreys. During his squadron’s transition from CH-46s to V-22s, Andrew was selected to serve as the squadron Aviation Safety Officer. In this role, he established new policies and procedures to ensure safe flight operations in the new aircraft. During his first deployment, Andrew supported humanitarian and disaster relief operations in Pakistan following the 2010 flooding of the Indus and Swat rivers. He deployed again in 2013 as an operations officer and forward air controller with First Battalion Fourth Marines. During this tour, Andrew had the opportunity to work UASs organic to the infantry battalion, as well as, strategic assets providing overhead surveillance. Andrew continues to serve as a pilot in the Marine Corps Reserve with a V-22 squadron based at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. He earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Construction Management from Virginia Tech and will graduate this May with an MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.
