Western Energy Institute's Code of Conduct

Western Energy Institute (WEI) is committed to providing a safe and inclusive experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, or religion. WEI expects members, speakers, vendors, attendees, guests, and staff to uphold the following behavior when present at a WEI meeting or event, whether held virtually or in-person:

  • Safety first. Always be mindful of others as well as your surroundings.
  • Treat all individuals with respect and consideration.
  • Embrace diversity and seek to understand perspectives or experiences different from your own.
  • Drink responsibly at WEI-sponsored networking events and dinners. Excessive drinking or disruptive behavior due to intoxication is not tolerated.

WEI has a zero-tolerance policy for any form of discrimination or harassment, physical and verbal, conducted by any participant and reserves the right to dismiss attendance and refuse access to future WEI programs.

Reporting an Incident

Please contact welisten@westernenergy.org to report an incident of discrimination, harassment, or inappropriate behavior at a WEI meeting or event. Reporting is confidential and is submitted directly to the WEI President. WEI will cooperate with any appropriate authority investigating a reported incident.
