The California ISO (CAISO) serves as administrator of the California Energy Markets and operates the state’s transmission grid. The three major utilities in California form the backbone of the state’s grid; Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), and Southern California Edison (SCE).
